Easy Homemade Burger Recipe Better Than Fast Food

Craving a juicy, cheesy burger without ordering fast food? This easy homemade burger recipe delivers a crispy outside, tender center, melted cheese, and fresh toppings in less than 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef or chicken mince

  • 4 burger buns

  • 4 cheese slices

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tablespoon oil or butter

  • Lettuce leaves

  • Tomato and onion slices

  • Mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard

Prepare the Burger Patties

Place the minced meat in a bowl. Add chopped onion, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently without pressing the meat too much.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into round patties slightly larger than the burger buns. Make a small dent in the center of each patty so it cooks evenly.

Cook the Patties

Heat oil or butter in a heavy pan over medium-high heat. Place the patties in the hot pan and cook for four to five minutes on each side.

Avoid pressing the patties while cooking because this releases their natural juices.

Place a cheese slice over each patty during the final minute. Cover the pan briefly so the cheese melts completely. Ensure chicken patties are fully cooked before serving.

Toast the Burger Buns

Cut the buns in half and spread a little butter on the inner sides. Toast them in the same pan until lightly golden and crisp.

Toasting prevents the buns from becoming soggy after adding sauces.

Assemble the Burger

Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, or mustard on the bottom bun. Add lettuce, the hot cheese-covered patty, tomato slices, onion, and your favorite pickles.

Add more sauce and cover with the top bun.

Serve immediately with homemade fries, potato wedges, coleslaw, or a fresh salad.

Tips for the Perfect Homemade Burger

Use meat containing a little fat for a juicier patty. Keep the patty slightly wider than the bun because it shrinks during cooking. Do not overmix the meat, and always cook it on a properly heated pan.

You can customize this burger with caramelized onions, jalapeños, mushrooms, barbecue sauce, or an extra cheese slice.

Fresh ingredients, a juicy patty, melted cheese, and toasted buns make this homemade burger more flavorful and satisfying than ordinary fast food.
